- "Hoodlum priest" dies.

- Text transcribed from caption: C-29744 ‘HOODLUM PRIEST’ DIES ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Father Charles Dismas Clark, S.J., known as the “Hoodlum priest” for his work in rehabilitating former prison inmates, died in St. Louis after a long illness. He was 62. In 1959 he founded Dismas House here as a haven for ex-convicts. He is shown here before the institution named for the “good thief” crucified beside Christ. Father Clark also was responsible for setting up several other such centers in U.S. cities.
