The Rev. Carter Heyward of New York (left) and the Rev. Allison Cheek of Annandale, Va., are joined by the Rev. Robert Hall, an Episcopal priest who teaches at a Roman Catholic school in Steubenville, Ohio, at the altar rail during Communion. Another of the 11 women, the Rev. Jeanette Piccard of Minnesota, was present but did not celebrate the sacrament upon advice of her attorney. The services marked the third time that Episcopal women have celebrated the Eucharist since the Philadelphia ordinations and the second time that it has occurred in an Episcopal church. - Description
- Text transcribed from caption: RECREATES NEW TESTAMENT PERSONALITIES #s-3195 CLEVELAND -- The Rev. Franklin D. Butchart believes that the best way to bring the Bible to his audiences is through a recreation of its great personalities. Garbed in costumes of the Biblical ages he gives vivid impersonations of John, Peter or Paul. Mr. Butchart, who is minister of the Glenville Christian church here, delivers his readings in many churches of Greater Cleveland. He credits his wife with much of the success of his presentations as she supervises his makeup and stage technique. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (JT-CLEVE-MES-4B-6-W-B)
