Although they have become successful businessmen and farmers, they have kept many of their Punjab ways, most evident of which is their religion. Here a venerable priest, barefooted and cross-legged, reads the Granth, the sacred book of the Sikhs. It is a compilation of the songs of Nanak, who founded the religion 450 years ago, and those of other poets.
