- Text transcribed from caption: P-30524 FEDERATION ELECTS NEGRO, NAMES "MAN OF THE YEAR" ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Rev. Amos Ryce II (left), pastor of Lane Tabernacle Christian Methodist Episcopal church, was elected president of the Metropolitan Church Federation of Greater St. Louis. He is the first Negro to head the 55-year-old organization. The federation also named Dr. Ned Cole (right), dean of Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal), as "Ecumenical Man of the Year for 1963" for his ministry in his congregation, the federation and the community. Dr. Cole has been elected Bishop Coadjutor of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of Central New York and plans to move to Syracuse, N.Y., in the spring.
