- Methodist Church congregation introduces novel way of raising post-war funds for missionaries.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: #28 METHODIST CHURCH CONGREGATION INTRODUCES NOVEL WAY OF RAISING POST-WAR FUNDS FOR MISSIONARIES Alton, Ill...The congregation of the First Methodist Church of this city, in its effort to raise money for the "Crusade for Christ," a Methodist movement to provide post-war funds for missionaries to re-enter foreign fields, has rolled up its sleeves, slipped into aprons and gone into the toy manufacturing business in the basement of the church. The work of turning out the toys is speeded up by applying "assembly line" methods. All the tools used are loaned by members of the "Young Married Couple" class. Lumber and paint were purchased in quantity, and as this series of exclusive photos shows, everyone is having a wonderful time in this novel fund-raising movement.
