- Description
- By finding 15 Bible references in less than 15 minutes, Virginia Salgado, 15, of Toluca, Mexico, won the intermediate Christian Endeavor "sharpshooting contest," Virginia traveling all the way from Mexico to an Endeavor convention in Cleveland, O., to compete. She worked under the handicap of being unable to understand English, the announcer's words being translated. - Presbyterian missionaries in Phoenix, Arizona.
- Description
- This "Tabernacle" was erected in Phoenix, Arizona, April 1879 by the Home Missionary of the Presbyterian Board and a few Friends. In it was organized the First Presbyterian Church of Phoenix June 15th 1879 and in it the services of the church were held during the summer. The frame work is cotton-wood, the roof willow, the inclosure ocotillo, a species of cactus. Dimensions 30 x 40. The parties in the foreground are the missionary, session, and others. These photos are sold in order to raise money to build a chapel. Rev. Wm. Meyer, Phoenix, Ariz.
