Title: Clergyman arrested in anti-segregation fight.
Description: Protestant, Catholic and Jewish clergymen have been among some 300 persons arrested in a series of efforts to integrate the privately owned Gwynn Oak Amusement Park. In one of the anti-segregation demonstrations outside the park, a minister donned a red, white and blue "Uncle Sam" outfit to symbolize the fight for racial equality. He was promptly arrested on trespassing charges. The clergyman, the Rev. David Andrews, assistant chaplain at Morgan State College, is shown here being taken into custody by police.

Description: Text transcribed from caption: United Presbyterians Elect Black Woman. Baltimore -- Dr. Thelma Davidson Adair, 55, of New York City, was chosen as the first black woman moderator of the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. during its General Assembly in Baltimore. An unprecedented four ballots were needed for her election to a one-year term as the denomination's top elected official. The General Assembly also elected another woman, Martha P. Martin of Cincinnati, as their vice-moderator for the year ahead. Dr. Adair is an elder (lay leader) of the Mount Morris Presbyterian Church in Harlem, of which her husband is pastor. She has taught at all levels, from college to nursery school, and has held many church posts.
