- Leon Fanniel interviewed by Beth Shalom Hessel, 2017.
- Description
- Leon Fanniel, Presbyterian musician, administrator, and minister, was born in 1930 in Kansas City, Mo., and graduated from Huston-Tillotson College (Austin, Tex.), George Williams College (Chicago, Ill.), and McCormick Theological Seminary. He was ordained by the Presbytery of Chicago in 1969. Fanniel was executive of the Synod of Southern California and Hawaii in 1971-1972, and became the first executive director of the General Assembly Mission Council, serving from 1972 to 1975. Fanniel served as pastor of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church (Los Angeles, Calif.) from 1975 to 1996. He died December 20, 2018 in Pasadena, California.

- Description
- Presbyterian Historical Society Records Archivist David Staniunas interviews Robert E. Wilson, vice-moderator of the 217th Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) General Assembly in Birmingham, Alabama, 2006. Wilson was born on January 23, 1939 in Gastonia, N.C., and raised in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Barred from professional employment by segregation in North Carolina, Wilson found federal civil service work at the Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, N.J., in 1961. He and Patricia Isles were married on June 17, 1961. The couple joined Ironia Presbyterian Church (Ironia, N.J.) in 1963. Wilson retired from the federal civil service in 1995. In 2001, he served as president of the National Council of Presbyterian Men.

- Bettie J. Durrah is a Presbyterian elder, born in Newman, Georgia, a fourth-generation African American Presbyterian. She completed a bachelor's degree in Biology at Spelman College, and holds two master's degrees, from Clark Atlanta University and Georgia State University. From 1995 to 2004 she served in the PC(USA) Women's Ministries as national staff in the Synods of Living Waters, Mid-Atlantic, South Atlantic, and Trinity. An elder at Radcliffe Presbyterian Church (Atlanta, Ga.), she has served as moderator of Presbyterian Women at congregation, presbytery, and synod levels; as moderator of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta; and was a commissioner to the 2000 General Assembly.

- Annanda Barclay is an advocate for intersectional justice in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). She has worked for LGBTQIA+ rights and served as Co-Moderator of More Light Presbyterians, a board member of the Spahr Reconciliation Initiative, and has helped plan pastoral candidate retreats with Parity (formerly Presbyterian Welcome). Barclay graduated with her M.Div. from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2014. She is currently working as a pastor at Mission Bay Community Church (San Francisco, CA) and as interim chaplain at the University of the Redlands, while pursuing a full-time career in chaplaincy.

- Bertram Johnson became the first openly gay African American to be ordained as a pastor in the PC(USA) in 2014. He grew up Baptist, attended Mt. Baker Park Presbyterian Church (Seattle, Washington), and was ordained at Madrona Grace Presbyterian Church (Seattle, Washington) as a Teaching Elder in 2014.

- In 2018, Rev. Ashley DeTar-Birt, an out bisexual woman, was ordained in the PC(USA). She was ordained by Rutgers Presbyterian Church in New York as the Pastoral Fellow for Youth and Families.
