- Text transcribed from caption: P-31198 21,000 NAZARENES ATTEND COMMUNION SERVICE PORTLAND, Ore -- An estimated 21,000 members of the Church of the Nazarene jammed Portland’s Memorial Coliseum and adjoining rooms for a Communion service opening the denomination’s quadrennial General Assembly. Theme of the assembly, “In the Power of the Spirit,” is displayed on banner. Preaching the sermon was Dr. G.B. Williamson of Kansas City, Mo., a general superintendent of the Church. Founded in 1908 at Pilot Point, Texas, the denomination is one of the largest holiness bodies in the world. It has some 405,000 members, including about 65,000 in foreign countries.
