- "Christian Manifesto" protests.
- Description
- Christian Manifesto': Fundamentalist minister Dr. Carl McIntire, right, reads part of his "Christian Manifesto" -- seeking $3 billion in reparations from "modernist" churches -- on the steps of New York's Riverside church. Dr. McIntire, 63, head of the International Council of Christian Churches, said his "Christian Manifesto" was an answer to the "Black Manifesto" delivered by black militant James Forman earlier this year.

- 'Hot Rod' racers combine religion with sports.
- Description
- Oakland, Calif.--A "Hot Rod" racing club here is believed to be the only organization of its kind in the country which combines auto racing with the practice of Christianity. Known as the Heaven Pacers of the East Bay, the club's 20 active members consider their racing fraternity as a missionary field. Members attend a brief non-denominational service before every race that is held on Sundays, in addition to praying individually during a race. Here. Don Marker, past president of the club, kneels in prayer before his "hot rod." The Heaven Pacers have as their motto this verse from I Corinthians: "Know ye not that they which run in the race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain." (9:24) To join the club, applicants must "know the lord as your own personal saviour," and own or be able to build a "hot rod."

- Title
- 20,000 at Graham Honolulu Rally.
- Description
- Honolulu, T.H.--American Evangelist Billy Graham addresses some 20,000 persons in Honolulu Stadium here. It was his only public rally in Hawaii. The cosmopolitan throng consisted of Caucasians, Hawaiians, Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, Negroes and Filipinos. Sprinkled about the stadium's field are camera fans shooting pictures of Mr. Graham as he speaks. In response to his invitation to "make decisions for Christ" an estimated 2,000 marched to the pulpit. Mr. Graham came here on his way home from an eight-week tour of India, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Formosa, Tokyo and Korea.
