- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: PC-31220 SEARCH SPREADS FOR MISSING RIGHTS WORKERS PHILADELPHIA, Miss. -- River dragging operations continued in the Philadelphia, Miss., area and a search spread to surrounding states a week after the disappearance of three young civil rights workers. As some 500 college students -- trained by the national Council of Churches and supervised in Mississippi by civil rights groups -- reached the state to operate over registration programs and “freedom schools,” the NCC announced it would enlist additional Protestant, Roman Catholic and Jewish clergymen and lawyers to assist and advise the young people. - Description
- Text transcribed from caption: P-30914 MORMON TEMPLE FACADE BECKONS FAIR VISITORS NEW YORK -- Towering pillars, columns and spires are located throughout the 646-acres of the New York World’s Fair, and among the most impressive is the front facade of the Mormon Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Salt Lake City, Utah. A large reflecting pool is in front of the tall structure, which is topped by a gold statue of the Angel Moroni. Dioramas, statuary and a twin theater are main features of the pavilion. A 15-minute film, “Man’s Search for Happiness,” is offered on a staggered schedule in both theaters. Except for minor finishing touches, the pavilion was ready for the Fair’s opening on April 22 and drew large crowds. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (RNS-NY-4D-64-NBM)

Here the Rev. Fred W. Otterbein (left) interviews one of his parishioners, Charles G. Huebner, returned vet who saw service with the Signal Corps, and is seeking placement in the electronics or communications industry. Dr. Otterbein keynotes his interviews with shirt-sleeve informality and after learning the veteran’s qualifications gets in touch with one of the many companies cooperating with the bureau.
