- Title
- The Lutheran Cathedral at Uppsala, Sweden.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: #03 THE LUTHERAN CATHEDRAL AT UPPSALA, SWEDEN The Lutheran Church of Sweden is a national establishment. The clergy of the Church are salaried by the State. The Church Assembly meets regularly at five year intervals. Sweden is divided into thirteen dioceses, presided over by bishops. The Bishop of Uppsala has the title archbishop yet assumes no hierarchical privileges. He is instead a kind of presiding bishop in the Church of Sweden. The Lutheran Reformation came to Sweden through Olavus Petri who had been a student of Martin Luther in Wittenberg. Uppsala has been the seat of the Primate of Sweden ever since the establishment of the Archbishopric in 1164. CREDIT LINE MUST READ: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO
