- Description
- Pearl Rugless O'Meally and Mary Ludlow were on the nominating committee that called Janie Spahr to serve as pastor of Downtown United Presbyterian Church and early members of That All May Freely Serve (TAMFS). TAMFS began in 1993 after Rev. Jane Adams Spahr, a lesbian minister, was banned by the Permanent Judicial Commission from accepting a call to serve as a pastor of Downtown United Presbyterian Church (Rochester, NY). Downtown Church formed TAMFS ministry in response, electing Spahr to serve as a "lesbian evangelist" to the PC(USA), and advocating for the full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ Presbyterians.

- Oral history of Stated Clerk Emeritus Cliff Kirkpatrick interviewed by Rev. Dr. Neal Presa and recorded via Zoom by Randy Hobson of OGA Communications on July 24, 2023. The Rev. Dr. Clifton Kirkpatrick is an ordained minister who served for fifteen years as the Director of the Worldwide Ministries Division before becoming Stated Clerk. He served in this capacity from 1996-2008 and, at the conclusion of his service, was elected by the General Assembly as Stated Clerk Emeritus. His other leadership roles included Co-moderator of the General Assembly Special Committee on the Belhar Confession and member of the Board of Directors of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians. Kirkpatrick attended Davidson College (BA), Yale University (MDiv), and McCormick Theological Seminary (DMin).

- Joanna Moseley Adams, Presbyterian minister, was born October 17, 1944 in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Columbia Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1979. She served Central Presbyterian Church (Atlanta, Ga.), North Decatur Presbyterian Church (Decatur, Ga.), and Trinity Presbyterian Church (Atlanta, Ga.), before spending two years as co-pastor alongside John Buchanan at Fourth Presbyterian Church (Chicago, Ill.). From 1996 on she was an organizer for and moderator of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians. She retired in 2010.

She has worked for LGBTQIA+ rights and served as Co-Moderator of More Light Presbyterians, a board member of the Spahr Reconciliation Initiative, and has helped plan pastoral candidate retreats with Parity (formerly Presbyterian Welcome). Barclay graduated with her M.Div. from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2014. She is currently working as a pastor at Mission Bay Community Church (San Francisco, CA) and as interim chaplain at the University of the Redlands, while pursuing a full-time career in chaplaincy.

From 1947 to 1969 he was pastor of First African Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, serving as moderator of the presbytery in 1965 and moderator of the Synod of the Trinity in 1966. From 1975 to 1985 he was pastor of Northeastern Presbyterian Church (Washington, D.C.). He died in 2013.

- Peter Oddleifson was an elder at Third Presbyterian Church (Rochester, NY), an attorney who contributed to the national LGBTQ movement for equal ordination rights in the PC(USA), and an early member of That All May Freely Serve (TAMFS). TAMFS began in 1993 after Rev. Jane Adams Spahr, a lesbian minister, was banned by the Permanent Judicial Commission from accepting a call to serve as a pastor of Downtown United Presbyterian Church (Rochester, NY). Downtown Church formed TAMFS ministry in response, electing Spahr to serve as a "lesbian evangelist" to the PC(USA), and advocating for the full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ Presbyterians.

From 1995 to 2004 she served in the PC(USA) Women's Ministries as national staff in the Synods of Living Waters, Mid-Atlantic, South Atlantic, and Trinity. An elder at Radcliffe Presbyterian Church (Atlanta, Ga.), she has served as moderator of Presbyterian Women at congregation, presbytery, and synod levels; as moderator of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta; and was a commissioner to the 2000 General Assembly.
