- Text transcribed from caption: C-31971 FIRST KENNEDY SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS OMAHA, Neb. -- These three co-eds are nearing completion of their first semester at Duchesne College and Academy of the Sacred Heart, Omaha, Neb., as winners of the school’s first John F. Kennedy Memorial Scholarships. From left are: Joyce Maclin, Yvonne Spearman and Florence Davis. They are shown with Mother Constance Campbell who holds a copy of the Catholic School Journal featuring a story on the students in the December issue. The scholarship program honors the late President for his efforts on behalf of civil rights and the racial justice movement. It is designed to aid needy and qualified Negro students. Shown where “frosh” beanies are this year’s recipients. From left: Yvonne Spearman, Joyce Maclin and Florence Davis. Under the program, scholarships and other financial aid will be given by the Catholic college on the basis of scholastic achievement and need. The new John F.
