- Title
- First Protestant chapel in Moscow.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: PC-30575 FIRST PROTESTANT CHAPEL IN MOSCOW MOSCOW -- U.S. Ambassador Foy D. Kohler reads the Scripture lesson during services dedicating Christ Church in Moscow -- the first Protestant chapel to be established for the English-speaking community in the Russian city. Pastor of the new church is the Rev. Donald V. Roberts, a United Presbyterian clergyman from Tonawanda, N.Y., who has been a chaplain in Moscow since 1962 under a special Moscow Ministry Project of the National Council of Churches. The chapel, which can seat about 75, is located in one room of the apartment occupied by the Roberts family. A similar arrangement exists for Roman Catholics in the Moscow foreign colony. Father Joseph Frederic Richard, A.A., formerly of Worcester, Mass., uses one room of his apartment for Our Lady of Hope Chapel. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (U-NY-2B-64-NBM)
