- They serve the Canadian Northwest.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: C-4054 THEY SERVE THE CANADIAN NORTHWEST FT. SMITH, Canadian NWT -- Serving one of the most extensive areas of any group of churchmen in the world are the priests who work here in the vast expanses of the Canadian Northwest Territory. They are counsellors, directors of community living and teachers among their parishioners, many of whom are Indians. Here Father Alphonse Mansoz is showing one of his young Indian charges, Jimmy Mercredi, how to care for a small garden patch in front of the Church of St. Isidore. Father Mansoz is a member of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (WNS-TOR-CAN-MES-7A-6-C)
