- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: C-31891 THEIR APOSTOLATE: ATONEMENT FOR A ‘DEATH’ CAMP MUNICH, West Germany -- These nuns will spend the rest of their lives in prayers of atonement for the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Nazi regime. Carmelites, they are shown in their chapel at the site of the infamous “death” camp maintained by the Nazis at Dachau, Germany. The grounds have been converted into Holy Blood Convent, which was dedicated by Bishop Johannes Neuhausler. The German prelate was an inmate of Dachau for most of the 12-year-regime of Adolf Hitler. Isolated from the world, the nuns will fill their days with hard work, meditation and prayer. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (U-NY-12A-64-W)
