- Pope warmly greeted in Orvieto.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: C-31407 POPE WARMLY GREETED IN ORVIETO ORVIETO, Italy-(RNS)--Two scenes showing Pope Paul VI acknowledging the warm greetings from crowds as he arrives in Orvieto, after a 75-mile helicopter flight from the papal summer villa at Castel Gandolfo. In top photo the Pope prepares to leave the car which drove him about two miles from the helicopter's landing site to the Orevieto Cathedral. Bottom, the auto slowly winds its way to the cathedral where the pontiff celebrated Mass and preached. The services marked the 700th anniversary of the Feast of Corpus Christi, instituted throughout the Church by Pope Urban IV on Sept. 8, 1264. Paul's helicopter flight was the first ever made by a Pope. He returned to Castel Gandolfo by car. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (KEY-8B-64-NAB)
