TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF EARTH DAY OBSERVED

ATLANTA--Costumed participants in Atlanta's Earth Day observance

gather on the capitol steps on Apr. 22, wearing signs proclaiming what they believe

to be wrong with the planet: "Ignorance, greed, apathy and self

interest."

Similar ecological celebrations took place in New York, Washington,

Denver, San Francisco, Seattle and other major cities -- marking the

10th anniversary of the event.
