Description:
18,500 Jam Garden for Graham Crusade. New York--Some 18,500 persons jammed
Madison Square Garden to hear Evangelist Billy Graham open his six-weeks New
York crusade. The evangelist spoke for 45 minutes from a nine-foor platform
erected at one end of the huge arena. He will give a series of Gospel sermons
every night during the crusade. After his address at the 90-minute rally,
some 485 men, women and teenagers approached the rostrum to make "decisions
for Christ," the largest number to do so at the opening of any Graham crusade
in this country. Mr. Graham was invited to come this city by the Protestant
Council of the City of New York.
