Hattiesburg, Miss.--Posters in the window of the Hattiesburg, Miss. offices of the National Council of Churches' Mississippi Delta Ministry call attention to various phases of the long-range relief, rehabilitation and education program among impoverished Negroes and whites. Hailed by many and criticized by others, largely for its encouragement of the Negro voter registration and efforts to organize laborers, the Ministry is the first such project in this country to receive support from the World Council of Churches. Headquartered in Greenville, Ministry centers also are maintained in Cleveland, Hattiesburg and McComb, Miss.

Description:
Protestant, Catholic and Jewish clergymen have been among some 300 persons arrested in a series of efforts to integrate the privately owned Gwynn Oak Amusement Park. In one of the anti-segregation demonstrations outside the park, a minister donned a red, white and blue "Uncle Sam" outfit to symbolize the fight for racial equality. He was promptly arrested on trespassing charges. The clergyman, the Rev. David Andrews, assistant chaplain at Morgan State College, is shown here being taken into custody by police.
