Description:Shelton Bishop Waters was an African American Presbyterian minister. Born in 1918 in Pittsburgh, he was educated at Johnson C. Smith University (Charlotte, N.C.) and Lincoln University. From 1947 to 1969 he was pastor of First African Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, serving as moderator of the presbytery in 1965 and moderator of the Synod of the Trinity in 1966.
