Text transcribed from caption: 4022 ADDRESSES NEW CATHOLIC THEOLOGICAL SOCIETY NEW YORK -- The Rev. William O’Connor, of St. Joseph’s Seminary, Yonkers, N.Y., is shown addressing the inaugural meeting here of the Catholic Theological Society of America -- first group of its kind in this country. The society is intended to promote theological discussion and research and will also seek “to relate the theology of the Church to current problems.” Inauguration of the society, of which Father O’Connor was elected a director, was preceded by a Pontifical Mass in St. Patrick’s Cathedral presided over by Francis Cardinal Spellman, Archbishop of New York.
