Among them is Bobby Richardson, New York, Yankees’ second baseman, top right, who set a World Series record of 13 hits in 7 games. At top left is Don Demeter, slugging outfielder of the Detroit Tigers. Others are Dave Wickersham, the Tigers’ 19-game winning pitcher, left, and Vernon Law, Pittsburgh Pirates hurler, right in second row; and below right is Branch Rickey, venerable and controversial adviser to the world champion St. Louis Cardinals. All of them address church groups, giving talks on witness to Christ in professional fields and daily life.
