Text transcribed from caption: PC-31963 NORTHERN STUDENTS REBUILD BURNED MISSISSIPPI CHURCH RIPLEY, Miss. -- A group of “Carpenters for Christmas” -- students from five colleges in Northern states -- lay the foundation for reconstruction of the Antioch Baptist church, a Negro sanctuary burned to the ground at Ripley, Miss., after a civil rights meeting was held there. The young builders, mostly from Oberlin (O.) College but also from Northwestern University, the University of Massachusetts, Yankton (S.D.)
