Text transcribed from caption: C-30714 POPE RECEIVES EXPELLED SUDAN PRIESTS VATICAN CITY -- Pope Paul VI held a special audience for about 200 missionaries forced out of Sudan on charges of anti-state of activities in that predominantly Muslim nation. During the audience some priests approached the pontiff to kiss his ring. In a moving address the Pope told the priests he had been following developments in Sudan "with intense pain." He expressed the hope that the Sudanese authorities "may re-examine the entire issue with serene objectivity." Meanwhile the Vatican Radio announced that more than 200 Catholic priests and nuns have been expelled from Sudan, including an Apostolic Vicar and two Prefects Apostolic.
