Text transcribed from caption: C-30344 NUN-HISTORIAN BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Sister Joan de Lourdes, a specialist in American colonial history, has become the first nun to be invited to address the American Historical Association. She will be a speaker Christmas week at the association’s convention in Philadelphia. Chairman of the history department and dean of students at St. Joseph’s College for Women, Brooklyn, Sister Joan is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she did her doctoral work under Pulitzer Prize winner historian Dr. Roy Nichols. A fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation Colonial Williamsburgh [sic] Archives, the nun has had a number of scholarly articles on colonial government published.
