Text transcribed from caption: P-31295 ECUMENICAL YOUTH CONFERENCE IN MIDDLE EAST BROUMMANA, Lebanon -- Application of the Christian message in today’s rapidly-changing world was stressed at Broummana, Lebanon, where Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican delegates and Roman Catholic observers gathered for the first Ecumenical Youth and Student Conference of the Middle East. The meeting was sponsored by the World Council of Churches’ Youth Department and the World’s Student Christian Federation. Speakers included Father Paul Verghese (top left), associate general secretary of the World Council and a priest of the Syrian Orthodox Church of Malabar, India, and Dr. Soretua Nababan (top right), a minister of the Batak Evangelical Church of Indonesia and secretary of the Youth Department of the East Asia Christian Council.
