Text transcribed from caption: PC-30959 ENTHUSIASTIC INTERRELIGIOUS CROWD URGES CIVIL RIGHTS WASHINGTON, D.C. -- More than 6,000 Protestants, Catholics and Jews enthusiastically applaud as Dr. Eugene Carson Blake, United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. chief administrator and chairman of the National Council of Churches’ race commission, demands that civil rights legislation “must and will be enacted -- and the time is now.” All 535 Senators and Representatives were invited to the interreligious convocation at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and several attended.
