Text transcribed from caption: C-30968 For Release: Fri., May 8, 1964 or later INTERRACIAL GROUP NAMES NUN EDUCATION DIRECTOR CHICAGO -- Sister Claire Marie, chairman of the sociology department of Alverno College, Milwaukee, was named head of a new department of education set up by the National Catholic Conference for Interracial Justice in Chicago. As director of education, the Franciscan nun--effective Sept. 14--will work in the area of youth education and the training of Sisters and lay people in the field of race relations. The nun-sociologist, who has had ten years experience in race relations, also will concern herself with intergroup programs in the field of medical care. Sister Claire is a former coordinator of research for the Bureau of Social Research at Catholic University of America where she earned her PH. D. degree in sociology.
