Taking the oath.
Text transcribed from original caption: PC-45895 Taking the Oath WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gerald R. Ford takes the oath of office as the 38th President of the United States in the East Room of the White House. Mrs. Betty Ford holds the family Bible as Chief Warren Burger administers the oath. As Mr. Ford took the oath, his hand rested on one of his favorite Biblical passages, Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (A-WAS-8C-74-DS)
