BLESSING OF THE FIELDS CEREMONY

ASHIPPUN, Wis.--Bishop Donald H.V. Hallock of Milwaukee (center)

officiates at the annual Blessing of the Fields ceremony at rural

St. Paul's Episcopal church in Ashippun. With him are the Rev.

Jay W. Breisch, priest-in-charge of St. Paul's (left), and an

acolyte. For the first time, live animals were included in the

blessing at St. Paul's. Also held in other churches of the

Episcopal diocese, the ceremony marks Rogation Sunday and the dedi-

cation of farm fields, seeds, implements and the farmers themselves.
