PRIEST SERVES AS JEWISH BOY'S 'GRANDFATHER'

NEW YORK--Father Hubert Celis, a prison chaplain in Brussels, Bel-

gium, is welcomed on his arrival in New York to serve as "grandfather"

at the Bar Mitzvah (Jewish confirmation) of 13-year-old Norman Wolbrom.

The boy and his mother, Mrs. Regina Wolbrom of Jackson Heights, N.Y.,

were at the Kennedy Airport to greet the priest. Father Celis shel-

tered Mrs. Wolbrom (then 13) and her sister and brother from the Nazis

when the three were orphaned in Belgium during World War II. Mrs.

Wolbrom's parents were killed at the Auschwitz concentration camp.

She said she wanted Father Celis to act as "grandfather" because "my

children have no grandparents and he was the last to see my parents."
