REBUILT NEGRO CHURCH DEDICATED
JACKSON, Miss.--Rebuilt at a cost of $15,450 after being burned in
the racial strife of last Summer, Zion Hill Baptist church in Summit,
near McComb, Miss., was dedicated before an interracial congregation.
It was one of 38 Negro churches bombed or burned during 1964 when
racial tension was high in Mississippi. Rebuilding these churches is
the goal of the Committee of Concern, an interreligious, interracial
group which so far has collected $92,000 from throughout the country.
The committee has aided the reconstruction of 12 of the churches,
nine of which have been dedicated, and eight are being rebuilt.
