ROSARY PILGRIMAGE AT NATIONAL SHRINE
WASHINGTON, D.C.--Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C. (left), founder of
the Family Rosary Crusade, leads a procession during the National
Rosary Pilgrimage at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception
in Washington, D.C. Msgr. William McDonough, director of the Shrine,
walks beside Father Peyton.
The pilgrimage brought thousands to Washington from almost every
state in the country. It was the climax to a series of pilgrimages
held during October, the month of the Holy Rosary, and was held in
response to a plea from Pope Paul VI who asked rectors of Marian
shrines to make them places from which people will return home fired
with the resolve to work for the peace of the world and the unity of
the Church.
