DIGNITARIES MARCH IN CHURCH DAY CONGRESS

COLOGNE, Germany--Some of the religious and civic dignitaries at the

12th German Evangelical Church Day Congress (DEKT) lead a procession

at a major rally in Cologne's sports stadium. Left to right:

Dr. Richard Freiherr von Weizsaecker, DEKT president; Mrs. Wilhelmine

Luebke and her husband, President Heinrich Luebke of West Germany;

and Dr. Kurt Scharf, chairman of the Council of the Evangelical Church

in Germany (EKID). Launched by EKID in 1949, the DEKT movement

encourages Christian laymen to participate more actively in religious

and public affairs.
