AFTERMATH OF A MISSION THAT FAILED


EASTERN IRAN--A burned-out helicopter and another left behind following


the ill-fated U.S. commando mission to rescue U.S. hostages on Apr. 25, are a stark


contrast as they form a silhouette agains the desert skies of Eastern Iran.


Meanwhile, in two announcements over state radio, the militants announced


that groups of American Embassy captives had been taken to the


provincial cities of Qum and Tabriz, as part of a plan to prevent further


rescue attempts.
