AFTERMATH OF A MISSION THAT FAILED
EASTERN IRAN--A burned-out helicopter and another left behind following
the ill-fated U.S. commando mission to rescue U.S. hostages on Apr. 25, are a stark
contrast as they form a silhouette agains the desert skies of Eastern Iran.
Meanwhile, in two announcements over state radio, the militants announced
that groups of American Embassy captives had been taken to the
provincial cities of Qum and Tabriz, as part of a plan to prevent further
rescue attempts.
