KEEPING HIS BIBLE DRY
SAIGON -- This American serviceman in Vietnam's steaming jungles
keeps his Bible dry by strapping it to his camouflaged helmet with
an elastic band. He is PFC, A.C. Marnard of Macon, Ga., on patrol
near a rubber plantation about 40 miles north of Saigon. Many GI's
use similar "hatbands" to carry personal belongings since the extreme
heat causes perspiration to drench their uniforms and anything
carried in pockets.
