REFUGEES ARRIVE ON CWS AIRLIFT
NEW YORK -- This Albanian Moslem family of
seven children with their father arrived by
plane at Idlewild Airport here in the first
mass airlift of such migrants to be conducted
by Church World Service, relief agency of the
National Council of Churches. The group was
among 69 European refugees brought here by CWS
in a new resettlement program made possible by
the 1953 Refugee Relief Act. In right back-
ground is Halil Bushka, the father, whose wife
and youngest son still remain in Albania. One
of his sons, Idaet (right), rescued six of his
brothers and sisters from Communist hands in
Albania and led them to safety in Greece. The
Bushka family will live with an uncle in
Waterbury, Conn.
