- Nuns return to China.
- Description
- Text transcribed from caption: #C-4541 NUNS RETURN TO CHINA MILWAUKEE -- Undismayed by the horror of their experiences as prisoners in a Japanese concentration camp, three veteran missionaries, sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi, check their baggage at the rail depot here before entraining for the West Coast enroute to China. Their smiles indicate an eagerness to return to their charitable labors and to renew past acquaintances in the Orient. Sister Mary Veronica (left), of Sun Prairie Wisc., has spent 12 years in China; Sister Mary Ludmilla, of Chicago, nine years; Sister Mary Charitas, of Sublette, Ill., six years. Following their release from imprisonment the sisters recuperated at their Motherhouse in St. Francis, Wisc. Credit Must Read: RELIGIOUS NEWS SERVICE PHOTO (D-H-MIL-WIS-BS-9D6-0)
