- Text transcribed from caption: PC-31747 LAPLAND CHURCH MEMORIAL TO HAMMARSKJOLD LAPLAND -- A suggestion proposed by a Laplander mountain guide, Andreas Labba (top), has been realized in the form of a small church built in the wild northern Scandinavia country and dedicated to the memory of Dag Hammarskjold, Secretary-General of the United Nations who died in a plane crash in 1961. A friend and companion of the noted world figure on many hikes into the Lapland mountains, Mr. Labba traveled to Uppsala, Sweden, for Mr. Hammarskjold’s funeral and made his idea known. Institutions, firm and individuals -- mostly in Lapland -- responded with funds and the small church, built in the triangular form of a Lapp hut, was raised.
