Meininger, pastor of the First Christian Church of Moline, Ill. As a chaplain with the Seabees, he drew up the plan for the structure, which served as a chapel for 2,500 servicemen. - Text transcribed from caption: 3908 JERUSALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH JERUSALEM -- Historic Church of the Redeemer, largest Lutheran house of worship in Palestine, is viewed through a street arch in the old, walled-in-section of the city. The stone edifice is built on the site of the hospital of the Knights of St. John, a religious order which began at the time of the Crusades. Its congregation comprises the small colony of Germans who reside in the Holy Land. Other Lutheran churches are used by Arab converts.
