- "A most historic picture. The first church building, built entirely by Koreans, in Korea. Dedicated by Dr. Underwood in 1895. A Christian congregation had been worshipping in Sorai village before the first Presbyterian missionaries set foot in Korea (Dr. Horace Allen) in 1884. - Kai Jung Church. Cost of building was so great because of inflation they were not able to put on tile roof so thatched the addition. New Bell. Army salvage material later made possible rebuilding of church. Donor: J.Y. Crothers.
