- Text transcribed from caption: SCENE OF PATRICK HENRY’S FAMOUS SPEECH #1781 [sic] RICHMOND, Va. -- On March 23, 1775, Patrick Henry spoke the words that became the most famous slogan of the Revolutionary War, “Give me Liberty, or give me death.” Henry’s speech was made in this quaint Colonial church, St. John’s, which still stands, surrounded the tombstones of its ancient graveyard.
