- Text transcribed from caption: JAPANESE CHAPEL DEFACED DURING WAR #1397 TOKYO -- All Saints Chapel of St. Paul’s (Episcopal) University hero was untouched by the air raids, but was closed and used as a military storehouse, during which time the interior was defaced and an altar cross chiseled away. - Text transcribed from caption: BUT THE CROSS STILL TOWERS ABOVE #1728 NAGASAKI, Japan -- Although the Roman Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart here is but a barren space surrounded by four walls, the cross atop its steeple still towers over the ruins of the adjacent city, a symbol of the Material losses suffered and the hope of everlasting life.
